Using duo acro and hand balancing skills… (Heyworth and Boyer were) simply interacting and manipulating their space in interesting ways
— Kim Campbell, third coast review

Joey the Handbalancer:

I have grown to prefer the world from the upside point of view and have subsequently been inverting as frequently as possible. Although having a solid foundation of inversion from a young age through countless hours of wrestling my brother, wrestling my dog, and experimenting to see if I could drink upside down, I formally began training on my hands in Melbourne, Australia at the very first graduating class of the Spin Circus Academy. I’ve since had the privilege of learning from incredible teachers like Alex Mizzen, Brittany Morgan, Vincent van Berkel and Nourol Meirmanov.

I’ve managed to include going upside in more than just my social time, performing at bars, participating in a circus troupes, teaching at gyms, workshopping at theatres and featuring it in my commercial work. There’s no need for professional prompting to inspire me to throw my legs over my hands and flow through different shapes and challenge my balance. I find that it’s the greatest way to stay in shape: all you need is your body, and very little space and that’s it. It’s basic, simple to understand, and easily one of the most frustrating endeavors I’ve ever decided to commit to, and I’ve (mostly) never regretted it.
